How to turn a Pen (part 2)

This is the next installment on making a pen

The blanks are added to the mandrel.

You make sure that the grain is matched up to enhance the finished pen.

The pieces are then turned down to a smaller diameter ready to shape.

To start with i use a gouge and follow up with a fine edge tool to shape and get a smooth finish off the tool.

This helps with sanding which is the next operation.

Next week we will show the pens being completed.
